Manchester United's Christiano Ronaldo Wrecks His Ferrari

The recently crowned European footballer of the year was driving his sports car through a tunnel beneath the runways when he smashed it into a barrier. The accident happened on the A538 Altrincham Road, between Wilmslow and Hale.


Greater Manchester police constable Nigel Snell said that given the damage to the vehicle, it was fortunate for the footballer not to have been injured.  Metal and other debris from the brand new car was strewn all over the place and on coming drivers had to dodge to make their way through, the scene of the accident had police flooding in a matter of minutes.


Nigel added that the police are trying to piece together what might have led to the accident; the authorities are calling on anyone that might have witnessed the crash to come forward with the information to supplement the investigation that they are already conducting.


A test at the scene for alcohol level in the breathe of the Portuguese international footballer came out negative.


Ronaldo’s red Ferrari that he had imported from his native home Portugal, was badly damaged with the front edge completely mangled up.


The left front wheel of the car came off due to the hard impact of the crash; it landed about 200 yards from where the vehicle came to a halt.


Obviously shaken:


Onlooker Jody Lomax who was driving behind Ronaldo when the crash happened said, “The Ferrari went straight into the wall, his left front wheel came off and then surprisingly he walked out, though a bit shaken.” Lomax added that he himself was shocked by the crash but Ronaldo was not hurt.


Team mate Edwin Van Der Sar was driving behind Ronaldo in his Bentley but the Dutch national was not involved in the crash.
Manchester United spokes person confirmed that the footballer was not hurt and that the club is happy that the star was training with his team mates after answering questions from the police.


Manchester United’s Christiano Ronaldo came off the bench in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat by Derby county Football Club in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-finals.


Pictures of what was left of his Ferrari have been made available and they show that it truly is a miracle for the talented footballer to have walked away unhurt, not to mention that he eventually trained.


The Ferrari that the Portuguese crashed is just but one of his many cars that make up a fleet estimated at 2,000,000 pounds, and consists of a Bentley continental, Rolls Royce, two Porsche cayenne and a BMW M6.


Helped Man-U to Glory:


The footballer of the year helped Manchester United in clinching the Champions league, Premiere league and also the World Cup Club championship in Japan recently.


He was mentioned the player of the season and took home the Golden Boot Award for scoring 42 goals, the most goals in one season in the English Premiere League history.
